Where in the World is That British Chick? Pt VI

uicWell it’s that time again, time to take a little trip with me around the grand old US of A. It’s finally time for the sixth and last installment of this series of posts.  I have already found out that my applications to Boston College and UCR have been declined. If you missed out on the first, second, third, fourth or fifth installment of “Where in the World is That British Chick?” go check it out and read all about Boston and then all about Reno, all about Tucson , and  all about California, and lastly all about Virginia, go ahead, we’ll wait…in the meantime if you need a quick refresher on why we are moving take a quick look at my About Me page! Now on to part VI.

Installment VI : University of Illinois, Chicago

I have to quite honestly say that of the four remaining schools I have yet to hear from UIC worries me the most. Living in a big city is most certainly not going to be an easy adjustment for me/ Buzz is not as worried about living in the big city being that he grew up in Queens, but he is definitely concerned about the living arrangements should we end up in Chicago.

The University of Illinois, Chicago has a program dedicated to psychology and law which bodes well for my study in that field. Boasting staff who are trained in the detection of deceit in child witnesses as well as experienced in research on the prevention of anti-social behavior and violence prevention. Overall the University has a program well suited to me and one which offers a wealth of growth opportunity.

Moving from our 1200 sq ft town house to Chicago is going to be a difficult move. From a slow country state in the South to a bustling city which is well known for having the unhappiest occupants in the nation…well the change will be hard. The weather in Chicago is also a minor concern but not as significant as those darn living arrangements will be. I honestly don’t know how we will pull off this move if it turns out that this is where I am supposed to be, but that said, we will pull it off.

Moving to Chicago, as I’ve stated above, is going to be a drastic move but the brighter side of this opportunity is that Chicago offers more for Buzz in terms of expanding his personal interests in film than some of the other cities we are looking at.

Here are a few of the places we have been looking at in Chicago, I haven’t included home pictures since homes available now will not be available next year:

$1295 3 Bedroom 1 Bath ? Sq Ft (No Pet fee) 15 minutes from school

$1295 3 Bedroom 1 Bath (No Pet fee) 15 minutes from school

$1250 2 Bedroom 1 Bath ? Sq Ft (No Pet fee) 8 minutes from school

$1250 2 Bedroom 1 Bath (No Pet fee) 8 minutes from school

$1100 2 Bedroom 1 Bath ? Sq Ft (No Pet fee) 14 minutes from school

$1100 2 Bedroom 1 Bath (No Pet fee) 14 minutes from school

$1000 2 Bedroom 1 Bath ? Sq Ft (No Pet fee) 17 minutes from school

$1000 2 Bedroom 1 Bath (No Pet fee) 17 minutes from school

Chicago is going to be near impossible as far as finding accommodations for us that are bearable let alone that accept families with large dogs…don’t people in Chicago have big dogs?

The draws of Chicago: An amazing program with knowledgeable professors and the opportunity to expand my education at a school known for it’s psychology and law department.

The drawbacks of Chicago: The weather, life in the big city, cramped living for all of us particularly Jet, cost of living.
