A Face in the Crowd

crowdI love my family but H-O-L-Y C-O-W is it uncomfortable to have so many of us packed in to such a small house! To make matters worse my younger brothers – still just 21 – have not yet learned how to be grown ups. They still leave dishes all over the place, trash wherever it lands, clothes all over the living room floor and…well generally the house looks like a bomb has hit it and it drives me c-r-a-z-y! I’m not a neat freak by any means but with a dad who expects a clean house when he comes home from work having two still teen boys who rip through the house like a whirlwind is aggravating. Not only does it aggravate me but it aggravates mum which means she snaps at me and, well, it’s a big long cycle that leaves me feeling like I’m 15 again myself because everything I do gets snapped at. Big families are great when you have somewhere to put everyone. Somewhere that the moody teen boys who play video games ALL DAY can seclude themselves to and get it out of their system. In short things have become a little difficult with the arrival of the twins to the house, I love them dearly but they are still twelve years old when it comes to looking after themselves and it grates on my last nerve. When I confront the boys about taking care of themselves and at least picking up after themselves I get the “but we’re men” excuse…not hardly boys! That excuse doesn’t fly in my house and it’s not going to fly here either! I could definitely use a long hot bath today LOL.
