A Last Lunch

LunchDuring my time here lunch has become the best part of the day. Mum and I will head out, do a little shopping and then find a nice spot for some lunch. We don’t usually talk about too much of importance over lunch – we’re not really a bit family of talkers, but once in a while she’ll ask about something that has been worrying her and I’ll try my best to be honest about it. The thing is that lunch isn’t really about the questions or the conversations it’s more about the being there. It’s about knowing that no matter what happens in my life there will always be lunches with my mom. Even if Buzz and I’s attempts to rebuild “us” don’t work, I won’t ever have to eat lunch on my own because my Mum will pick up the phone and say “hey, come on down and we’ll hit the Deli.” It took a long long time for my Mum and I to come to this point, we never used to see eye to eye, but I like to think that I’ve grown up. Things change and you have to be willing to look past the past and in to the future and know that things are different. You have to know that you need people in your life, people who will be there where all the chips are down…hell, people who will be there when there are no chips at all and my Mum is one of those people. I have to add in here that Queen Bee is also one of those people and she is applying for a job near to my home in North Carolina so get those prayers out because I need my girlie closer to home too! Anyway I’m off to lunch, I’ll catch you chickens later!
