Once or twice a year I have the pleasure of a get together with two of my closest friends. We lived in the dorms together in college, and have made it a custom to get together each year. Usually they bring their kids and we go to the zoo, it’s a fun day out but definitely not an “us-centered” activity and we always go home completely exhausted. This weekend we decided to have us time, a weekend long sleepover filled with reminiscing, chick flicks, plans for our futures and general relaxation. I spent a very long week cramming the next three days worth of work in to ensure that my weekend was relaxing and not oriented around work. This work cramming along with a family circumstance and my first rejection from one of my grad schools led to a long…long week but I am determined to kick my shoes off and enjoy my weekend off because I know that they are few and far between in this busy busy life of mine!
