Nature

birdsWhen I got my new desk Buzz put it together for me and set it in front of the bedroom window. As I work I watch nature passing by and sometimes it’s almost memorizing. In the warmer weather there are large swallowtail butterflies that fly above all of the trees and bushes in the woods behind our house. They twirl together, playing in the sun. Then there are those two pesky squirrels who make the trees shudder as they twist around and around their trunks chasing each other in a never ending game of tag. But my favorite has to be the birds. I am not particularly fond of birds but there are a few birds that frequent the rooftop that stands to the right of my window. There is the red cardinal who I fear will soon be leaving us as the temperatures drop. Then there are two smaller birds who look similar to Carolina chickadees who not only hop along the rooftop but they perch on the walls of the house fishing out caterpillars from between the bricks. I could sit and watch them all afternoon as they feed on the little pests that hide on the walls of our house. They are almost cute enough to make me like birds…but not quite.
