Time Flies!

graduation capTalking to my Mum today I realized that this coming summer my baby brothers will be graduating from college. Yes, COLLEGE. I remember when those two little boys were so tiny and now they’re some six feet tall and about to venture out in to the great wide world. They are fraternal twins, born three months early and weighing in at just over 4 pounds and just over 5 pounds each. They lay in incubators in the hospital in preemie diapers that came up to their armpits and I remember sticking my hand in to the incubator to touch them and thinking how fragile they were. I remember those two little boys dressed in quilted overalls running away from my sister and I as we smothered them in kisses and tried to squeeze them in those big poofy overalls. I remember when they couldn’t walk, when they did that crazy legs thing as they clung to our fingers trying to get their balance. I remember when they couldn’t make decisions for themselves, good or bad. It scares me to think that my baby brothers are men now, that they’re about to start their own lives in the big wide world. I’m afraid of the choices they will make and the places that they will go but I am not afraid that I will lose them because that is one thing we do have, closeness.
