MckLinky Blog Hop – Remembering 9/11

9/11I stumbled upon the MckLinky Blog Hop idea today while reading my morning RSS feed e-mails and catching up on some of my favorite blogs and I have to say that it has taken this long of debating to decide to take part. Remembering 9/11 is a touchy subject one which I will NEVER forget but I see no reason in dredging up (with accompanying photographs and footage) and forcing the families of lost ones to re-face every year. Perhaps they have all move on? I know Buzz has been able to move past dwelling upon his loss on that day but I wonder if the mother, brother, sister, wife, daughter, or son of the man photographed jumping from the tower will ever be able to move past it with photographs of their loved one just seconds before their death being circulated and recirculated constantly?

It’s not that we will EVER forget what happened but I do think that there is some amount of tact that should be afforded the families who lost a loved one. Imagine, if you will, that your mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, husband, wife were shot in the head, point blank, and it was caught on film and every single year on the anniversary of this event you were forced to revisit the occurrence with photographs or live video of the shooting in progress, photographs or live video of the destruction which occurred in the surroundings where they were shot, photographs or live video of the horrified faces of passersby…

I’m not saying we should forget, I’m simply saying that maybe we are just not choosing to remember what should be remembered.
