fireworks1.What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?

Took the GRE and applied to graduate school!

2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?:

I don’t recall having any resolutions last year…

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?:

Our landlady

4. Did anyone close to you die?:

My great uncle, and my girlfriend’s dad.

5. What countries did you visit?:

I haven’t left the country since I was in high school – this is going to have to change.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?:

A lot more self confidence and just because you asked – money.

7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?:

September 18th – the day I took the GRE.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?:

Going back to summer school and completing six graduate school applications.

9. What was your biggest failure?:

Allowing my business to slip while I focused on school.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?:

Not that I can recall thank goodness!

11. What was the best thing you bought?:(was bought for you)

Buzz bought me a laptop just for school use and I love it!

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?:

My own, I suppose. This past year I worked on my optimism and bravery as far as stepping outside my comfort zone.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?:

A fine weather friend who found fortune and decided that I was no longer  friend material.

14. Where did most of your money go?:

I dropped about $1,450 in total on Summer school which hurt quite a bit.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?:

My birthday trip to Vegas with Buzz and my best friend!

16. What songs will always remind you of 2009?:

The “You spin my right round, baby right round” remake, only because we blasted it on the car stereo when in Vegas.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i) …happier or sadder?:

I can’t particularly say either but I do feel more accomplished

ii) thinner or fatter?:

Thinner

iii) richer or poorer?:

Poorer, le sigh.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?:

Living in the moment rather than planning for tomorrow.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?:

Worrying about money.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?:

Well, it’s over and I spent it with my family here in Florida.

22. Did you fall in love in 2009?:

With being a student again!

23. How many one night stands?:

HAH! None.

24. What were your favourite TV programs?:

I did a Golden Girls stint again this year, watching it every night before bed.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?:

I try not to hate people because it expends an awful lot of energy and wastes a whole lot of time. There may be a few people I like less as a result of questionable decisions though.

26. What was the best book you read?:

I’m embarrassed to say that I can’t remember the last book I read, it would be Terry Pratchett though, most probably “Small Gods.”

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?:

Johnny Cash

28. What did you want and get?:

I wanted A’s in summer school and got them! I wanted a position in graduate school – still pending. I wanted a new job for my dad – nothing yet.

29. What did you want and not get?:

See the answers above. Also an Alice in Wonderland snow-globe that sold out before Buzz could grab it for me for Christmas.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?:

I really liked Up as well as Dog Day Afternoon, and Valkyrie.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?:

I turned 28 and Buzz took my best friend and I out to Vegas where we stayed in the Sky Lofts at the MGM Grand, it was amazing and intimidating but totally, completely, mindblowingly, amazing.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?:

Not having to worry about having money in the bank.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?:

Still trying to catch up with the latest fashions, making a desperate search for the perfect black boots and trying out dresses for once!

34. What kept you sane?:

The thought of a future doing what I want to do as a career.

35.Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?:

Tim Roth most recently but my celeb crushes are short lived and change every few weeks so that’s not saying much.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?:

I keep out of politics, call me ignorant if you will but politics don’t interest me in the least and I find public discussion of political stances to be far too abrasive for my personal comfort level.

37. Who did you miss?:

Each and every single day of every year since his passing I miss my granddad.

38. Who was the best new person you met?:

I “met” quite a few amazing and intriguing people this year but I’m going to pick Karie from The Five Fish.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:

If you want it badly enough you’ll find a way to make it happen.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

41. What was your favorite moment of the year?

When I excelled in school after overcoming my fear of stepping out of the box.

42. What was your least favourite moment of the year?

The moment that I realized that my best friends soon to be ex-husband was going to be a complete a-hole about the divorce and custody arrangements.

57. If you could go back in time to any moment of 2009 and change what would it be?

I wouldn’t have panicked so much about the GRE.

58. What are your plans for 2010?

A big move and starting a 5yr PhD program! Big, big changes this year!

    I was already smiling through this…nodding my head with VERY similar answers and then…there is my name. I am always so humbled by you! This year will be a fabulous year…I feel it. Here is to getting what we want and need this year for us and the ones we love my friend!
