Oh Sh*&

Laptop in the trashI really, really, really want to just let my sailor mouth go right about now and type a huge paragraph of nothing but expletives but for the sake of interesting reading and not offending your virgin (hah!) ears I shall move on. I had fully intended on giving you all the requested “what it’s like living in England” post today, honestly I had but…let me start from the beginning…

I started out the morning by getting up early, I let Jet out, grabbed my juice and a rice cake and then headed out to the gym. I ran, I hardly ever run because it hurts but it’s a good hurt so today I pushed it. I grabbed a shower, ran to lunch and even got a few errands done and still got home right at noon and then it started downhill. You see my main laptop has been having issues for a while now, mostly a blank white screen upon start up (I HATE Vista btw) and so I decided that before beginning the day I would do my laptop and myself a favor and system restore. Everything I had read about the issue pointed to windows update installs so I restored to a point before the last windows update install. Restart > short term white screen, I think it’s fixed. Laptop runs slowly so I remove some start up programs and it prompts me to restart. I restart. I get the white screen but this time it’s STUCK on the white screen like it was doing in the first place. Usually three or four or sometimes five hard boots will kick it in to gear and I get my laptop back. Since the white screen issue was still present I search for an older restore point. Seeing another windows update install I roll back to before that one, taking me back to early December and the restore begins. The laptop restarts itself and then I get IT…a plain BLACK screen. My not so intimidating white screen has now turned to a menacing black screen, which even as I type, sits here mocking me from the other side of my desk. Fortunately for me I have my school laptop which is near wiped clean…unfortunately for me ALL of my data and I mean ALL of my data for work and my blogs is on my – still staring blankly at me from the other side of my desk – other laptop. Yes of course I should always back up data and sure, some of it is backed up but if I hear Buzz say that to me ONE MORE TIME, I’m pretty sure that I’m going to throw the damn thing in the trash and set it on fire – don’t judge me, you know you’ve thought about doing it before too.

It’s the age of computers and I’m pretty sure they’re getting ready to take us over, one mocking black screen at a time.

I had something similar happen to me a few months ago. It sucked! My laptop died and I didn’t ever think to back it up – ever! Thankfully I was able to get an external hard drive before it totally died. I would have been so devastated if I had lost all of my pictures that I had taken over the last five years. I am so glad that they are backed up now. Good luck on getting your laptop to work čśÇ

We managed to get the beast back alive long enough to salvage my data THANK GOODNESS and now I’m running on Windows 7. I cannot say how much I dislike Vista!

I think there are occasions where a sailor’s mouth is allowed.
